Do you ever think about the many logos you see throughout the day? Do you wonder what went into the design of that logo? Why did a company choose to use a particular logo? Is it a successful representation of their company? These are just some of the questions that were on my mind as we rung in the new year. (crazy…I know) When I started this business, I didn’t know how things would go. I mean, I totally had faith that I would rock it…(wink wink)…but apparently I didn’t put enough thought into my logo at that time. I threw together something that looked professional enough and got started taking photos. What was I thinking?!
As a person who spent the majority of her corporate life in marketing and design, you’d think that I would have given this whole logo thing a bit more thought. Branding was my life as the Director of Marketing for an advertising specialty company. It was my job to figure out how to use a company’s logo on custom neckwear and other specialty items. How could I, of all people, not have give more thought to how my logo would best represent my growing business?
Enter 2017. Business is booming and I am so grateful. As I am busily adding branded products, ordering samples, stickers, cards….it hits me….I don’t really like my logo. Yes, I know, a little bit late for that you say. Well, I am counting on the fact that it is never too late to step up your brand!
In the interest of creating a logo that better represents me, my work and will carry me through what I hope will be many years of successful use….I spent some time doing research into what makes a great logo, drawing up many ideas for new logos, and polling people I trust in the business world to get their honest opinions. (Thanks again everyone…you know who you are!) Here are a few of the ideas that crossed my computer…
And, finally, a certain design took shape, found color and got lots of positive votes! I was feeling very excited about this logo. Anyone who has visited my home or knows me at all knows that I am a huge fan of midcentury modern style and color. This logo seems to embody my taste, my style and most of all…it will make a sweet watermark!
So…(insert drumroll here!)…introducing…my new logo…
(Yes…I know…it’s also at the top of my blog. Silly me!)
I have spend the last few days creating various versions of this logo, colorizing it and making it my own. I can’t wait to change everything over to my new look and begin ordering products to use this year. So many fun things are coming to Becci Hethcoat Photography. I hope that you will be a big part of the amazing year that I have planned.
So…what do you think? Did I make the right choice? Is there another logo that you like better? Why? I am still interested in your feedback people!
And while I’m at it…does anyone need a logo?? This was fun…
